RESPONSIBLY MADE
We source sustainable Albizia Saman wood from Northern Thailand's forests. The design firm and craftspeople we collaborate with are committed to sustainable harvesting; they make extensive use of reclaimed wood and strictly follow regenerative harvesting practices.
We can always provide evidence that each table we import was made in a sustainable manner. We work exclusively with one trusted design firm, whose management is flawless: They are constantly aware of the tree's origin, who felled it, under what license, and how it was carried.
CARE
We handle our woods gently in order to preserve their pristine beauty. Use a feather duster or a soft, dry cloth to eliminate common dust and dirt. Immediately wipe up spills with a clean, dry cloth. We do not advise using abrasives or other home cleaners to protect the finish because water will effectively clean up any spillage. The wax finish is durable and resistant to heat, oil, and stains. It may even withstand light abrasion.
To prevent rings, stains, and discoloration, use coasters, placemats, and trivets before putting hot food and beverages on the surface. Despite this, we have never noticed a stain or heat-mark on our personal tables in more than ten years.
Hardware may loosen over time; check connections on a regular basis and re-tighten as needed.
One to two times per year, we recommend using Rubio Maintenance Oil.
Brand Values
Our distinct pieces are made in an area known for their woodworking mastery, where the designers and woodworkers spend several years as apprentices honing their craft. We know that by sourcing our furniture from this area and design firm, we are ensuring that each piece is produced with meticulous attention to detail, a distinct aesthetic, skilled craftsmanship, and a minimalist approach to solid joinery. And by creating furniture “as nature intended,” it is readily apparent that each piece is nuanced and intriguing.
Brand Values
We intentionally curate Albizia Saman wood from healthy trees that are expertly chosen for their suitability for premium furniture. The grain texture of each item is distinct, and the live edge interacts with the tree's distinctive qualities as "nature-intended."
Brand Values
Our design company follows a strict harvesting methodology. This means we can demonstrate that every table we import is created in a sustainable manner using legally obtained, sustainably produced timber. As for the finer details, we always know where the tree came from, who cut it down, what license was used, and how the tree was carried. And to boot, currently, we’re working on a tree planting campaign that will give a portion of proceeds to regenerative forest propagation.
Commonly Asked Questions
How is the Open Heart Credenza constructed?
We work with minimal attachments to maintain the natural feel and convenience of each piece. The name of each piece speaks to an inherent or essential quality of the furniture.
What is the durability of the wood?
First, all of the wood used is properly dried by setting the wood upright under minimal shade. This allows moisture to drain. After three to four weeks, the wood is dried under a roof to protect against weather damage. Finally, the tables are placed in the low-flow drying oven for weeks up to multiple months, depending on the size.
We import the table tops after at least eight months, after which they continue to dry in the dry climate of Denver, Colorado. When a tabletop is dry enough, it will no longer change shape in dryer climates. However, we cannot guarantee that small cracks will not occur, especially if the table is kept in an outdoor or semi-outdoor environment. If damage does occur, we are always willing to look for a suitable solution. Fortunately, this is rare and has never happened in the past.
To prevent cracks, we use butterfly joints to prevent further cracking.
What finish is used?
The tabletop features a water, alcohol and heat resistant wax oil finish that is both durable and easy to maintain. If spilled on, liquids will simply bead up on the surface and can be cleaned up with a paper towel.
Can I order wood samples?
No, not at this time.
What is the ideal space for this piece?
Your living room or tea room.
